Hello artists! For those of you who I have met, my students, my campers, my friends and family members, I miss you very much and I can’t wait till I can see you again. For those who are new Hi my name is Emmerson or Miss Emmerson and I am so excited to read with you! Today we are going to read one of my favorites. It's called “If Picasso Painted a Snowman” by Amy & Greg Newbold. I chose to read this one today because of the crazy weather we have been having recently! Spring has definitely started and winter is coming to an end, so let’s read about our snowman friends!

Welcome back, artists! Once again I am Miss Emmerson and I hope you enjoyed last week's story on If Picasso Painted a Snowman, and if you missed it be sure to check it out to learn all about the artists we met and the genres or styles they created in. This week we are going to look at a book called “Mr. Matisse And His Cutouts” by Annemarie van Haeringen. We are going to learn about a very famous artist, Henri Matisse, and the shapes he created around him. So without waiting any longer, let me introduce him and his art!

The Artist Who Painted the Blue Horse

Welcome back returning artists and a big hello to anyone new! I am Miss Emmerson and I can’t believe this is already our third story we are going to read together! Last week we met Mr. Matisse and his cutouts and learned about college and abstract art. If you want to check out those they can also be found in the Art Picture Book Storytelling playlist. Today we have a simple read with lots of exciting colors. It’s called The Artist Who Painted A Blue Horse by Eric Carle. I decided to read this one today because I know how much we all have been loving spending this time at home with our animals. I even have a special friend who wants to say hello to everybody after our story! So let’s jump in and look at some interesting creatures!

Hi, there artists! For those of you who are new watching a special hi to all of you! For those who are returning from last week's book, I Have an Idea! By Herve Tullet hello again! And for my Prairieview North Elementary Kindergarteners, this is a special one for you! For many of us this is our last week of school and boy has it been a crazy year! You’ve learned about volcanoes, made special Valentine boxes, and made lots of itty bitty mice out of model magic. And even when you felt like it you never gave up. You never quit. I think you might find this one funny as we learn a little more about our materials who did quit! This is called The Day The Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt so let’s jump in and find out why!

During the 2020 pandemic, Covid-19, I was interested in exploring additional avenues that would allow for art education to happen beyond the classroom setting. I worked to not only create easy access literature read aloud on Youtube, but also began to guide eager young artists through private art lessons. As an instructor, I strive to create a diverse curriculum covering a variety of skillfully based lessons that center around the artists' interests. These are just some of the lessons that I have created which can be taught around the 3rd-grade elementary level.
